If you respond with the requested information, you may be inundated with email from the originating company sources and your information may then be referred to real estate company agents, moving companies, insurance companies, home improvement companies and the like. The real estate company agents, moving company agents, insurance company agents and others will soon contact you offering special deals ... and, they will be paying from 25% to 35% of their fees to the originating company source (i.e. Lending Tree, House Values, Monster Moving, Service Magic, etc.) that initially collected your email information. The participating company agents pay fees to get your email address and often either increase their servicing prices or reduce their services to maintain their profit margins. The originating companies call the participating company agents "registered" or "certified" or "preferred" or some other such term, which basically means that the participating agents have agreed to pay them a referral fee (at your expense). And, guess what, if you call a 1-800 or 866 or 877 or 888 or any other such number, you CANNOT block your phone number. Companies and agents using these numbers can easily acquire your phone number and initiate solicitation programs at will. You can only lose in these arrangements! Take heed.
